I have been photographing families at The Trout Parade since 2017, and I love that each year I get to hang with so many awesome people, some familiar and many new. But this is just a small slice of what I do as a full time photographer.
Let me take a moment to share with you what I really love to photograph; families, in their element, with the people they love most.
With 12 years of experience as a family photographer in the Catskills, I've come to find that the very best family photos are the ones we can't orchestrate.
Forget about curated and posed shots to fit those nine squares. I'm all about seeing what makes your family unique, and capturing the way this season of life feels, not just how you look.
When was the last time you felt your family was really represented in a photo?
I'm talking, real photos of your real family. Not everybody standing in a clump, smiling at a camera.
The way your toddler twirls your hair when she's tired. Or the way your partner looks at you in adoration between moments of chaos.
Because it's your story I want to tell, through images that create not just a legacy for future generations to look back on, but proof that you loved others, and they loved you right back.
Who we are and what we photograph.
Jill C. Smith Photography opened in 2013 when I was expecting my first child. I didn't want to go back to my job in education and put him in daycare, so decided to turn a hobby into a career, and it worked!
12 years later, it has grown beyond my wildest dreams. Still primarily serving families in The Catskills, Hudson Valley & NYC area, I have an incredible team of specialists who also photograph seniors, engagements, proposals, weddings, events & businesses.
