My biggest challenge during your session won’t be to make you (mom) look beautiful, or to get your kids to smile. It’s not going to be the lighting, or getting the shot. It isn’t even trying to stay creative or helping you to relax. My biggest challenge, since I have been a family photographer, is to keep dads happy.
Now, no offense dads, but you are my toughest customer. I know you don’t want to spend your day off doing this. I know that you’re not the type to put on a fake smile or pose. I don’t blame you. Nobody likes it. It just seems to be that dads like this stuff the least. The good news? I won’t make you do any of that.
Truly, don’t stress it. I promise that while mom was the one to hire me, and she and I have been planning this, I know it’s you I need to work the most at keeping happy during the session, and I know just the ticket.
Your session will be relaxed. I won’t ask you to do anything strenuous, or out of the norm, and I promise not to make you feel awkward. It’s all about going with the flow.
Your session will be quick. Not rushed. And certainly not cut short. But we won’t lallygag. I have found many ways to keep sessions efficient, without sacrificing getting all the shots you were hoping for and then some.
Your session will be fun. That’s right. We’ll spend most of the time playing and laughing. You’re going to probably forget you’re even being photographed.
Your session will be authentic. These photos are going to be of YOUR family, and I want them to feel like you. The focus is going to be on your connection with your family and it will feel so natural.
Hearing from families after a session is always the highlight of my job. Like when one family shared, 'We had such a great time at the photo shoot and would absolutely love to work with you again in the future! In fact, Jonathan said he will never go to anyone else!' It's feedback like this that lets me know I'm hitting the mark - especially with the dads.
I promise - this won’t hurt. And you’ll LOVE the results.
